Data visualisation: ICDA Not-for-Profit Governance Roadmap 2020
Posted on 04 Dec 2019
In December 2019, the Institute of Community Directors Australia launched a major study into governance in the not-for-profit sector. The results were informed by a comprehensive survey of 1878 senior not-for-profit sector leaders (board members and senior staff) that was open in the six weeks leading to March 26, 2019.
Respondents came from all states and territories in Australia (with Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia dominating the sample), and were roughly evenly spread between the roles of senior management/CEO and board members.
Most respondents were involved in organisations in the community development; human services; education; health; arts and culture; and sports and recreation segments of the community sector.
As part of the survey, we asked leaders to identify up to five trends or challenges faced by their organisation in the previous year. They responded in their own words, allowing us to create a picture of key sector stressors, as presented in the data visualisation below.
